Hello Family! - July 27, 2015

Hello family,
This week has been a good week! I am so glad to hear that ya'll had a good time camping! I am sad I missed out on all of the adventures of it! Mom, I don't feel bad that you felt like you were sleeping with critters because I feel like that every night! Haha seriously though, this week we found a cockroach in our bathroom it was the worse because I had just gone into the bathroom to change and get ready for bed and I had put all of my pajamas on the bathroom counter and then I finished getting ready for bed put my pajamas on and left the bathroom. Well Sister Sorensen walked in right after me and she starts panicking and saying there is a cockroach on the bathroom counter, I freak out because I just was in there with all of my stuff sitting right where a cockroach is now sitting... Anyways I try to kill it with the all purpose cleaner we had in there and I spray it and it takes off running towards our bedroom. So then I run and grab a tupperware container and I trap it under that. Well let's just say we had a pet cockroach in our room this whole week! Haha the worst part is I went to check on it this morning because we were feeding it all of the dead bugs we kill and when I looked this morning it was gone and the dead bug was still there.. So now we have a cockroach loose in our apartment again! Haha Anyways, I am glad to hear ya'll had fun camping and that dad told everyone my favorite stories! I am sad I missed those! Haha I just remember the last time he told them how hard I was laughing and how ridiculous they were but they will always be my favorite memory of camping! Oh and David, I liked the bug bite pictures. That is basically what my legs look like every week here.
Just not as bad as that!

So some exciting things that happened this week... We were able to teach our investigator Bill Bell again! It was great! I told you how he came to church last week. Well this week we were able to teach him about the Sabbath day and keeping it holy! It was a really good lesson and we were able to answer all of his questions he had about the Sacrament. The biggest miracle was just how happy he seemed. He has been very down and sad and lonely since we met him because his wife died about a year ago and he just can get over it. But ever since he came to church, and felt the spirit, there is just this light about him and he is so much more happy and he is more willing to learn and keep our commitments! It is great!

We were able to go and teach one of our new investigators named Brynn this week. She is a super cute lady. We met her at a park to teach her and she had 3 pages typed up for us full of questions she had and research she had done on the church website to try to find the answers! It was great! We were able to answer most of her questions before we had to run to our next appointment. We are planning on meeting with her again really soon so that we can finish answering her questions.

We were able to teach almost all of our investigators this week which was amazing! Heidi has been out of town visiting her mom so we are hoping to be able to meet with her this week and reset her baptismal date!

We had set our goal this week to work on getting members present at our lessons because on average we usually get zero or maybe one if we are lucky. Well I am happy to say we managed to get 8 member present lessons this week!! Woot woot! It was such a blessing!

Ok so this next story is probably my best story of the week! Ya'll are going to be so proud of me when you hear it! So on Friday we went to visit Leanne and Erik. They are two of our investigators. I think I have told you about them before. They are always giving us things when we go over and feeding us food. I have gotten a shirt, a water bottle, sunscreen, and salsa from them. Haha well anyway we get there and Leanne tells us that tonight is not a good night because she is just super busy with work stuff. So we are about to leave when Erik sees us and invites is in and instantly gets us some water and starts to make us a ton of food. Well I start eating some of it when he asks me if I like sardines... Of course ya'll know me and fish.. I hate fish and I don't eat it. Well I tell him no I haven't had them before and he proceeds to tell me how good they are and how he eats a can of them a day! Gross! Haha by this point I just looked totally grossed out when he opens up a can of them and asks me if I want some. Haha I am holding back gagging as I say no thank you. He tells me again all of the health benefits of eating sardines and tells me to just think healthy and try one. He even told me that he would read in the Book of Mormon if I ate one! I still couldn't bring myself to do it! Haha I start to ask him if I could share a message with him though. He jokingly told me no and said if I would eat a sardine he would let me share a message! And if I ate another one he would read in the Book of Mormon. Haha let's just say I ended up eating 2 1/2 sardines that night just so I could share a message and commit him to read in the Book of Mormon. Haha everyone got a good laugh though because I was freaking out trying not to cry because of how gross I thought they were and then as I put it in my mouth I instantly start gagging and making funny faces trying to get them down! Haha but I did get to teach Erik and Leanne the Plan of Salvation and it was a wonderful lesson. Erik had a lot of good questions we were able to answer that night and he committed to read in the Book of Mormon! The things you are willing to do to get a lesson in with someone and to get them to read the Book of Mormon. Haha ok so the next part of my visit with them ya'll are going to laugh and shake your heads at me. So remember how at home I was the crazy girl who believed everything on Pinterest and tried all of the weird remedies? Haha so Erik and Leanne have convinced me that I need to start taking omega 3 vitamins if I am unwilling to eat my can of sardines a day. They also got on the subject about deodorant and how the regular deodorant isn't good for you and it is just causing bacteria to fester in your armpit so he tells us about this all natural deodorant that is made with mineral salt that is suppose to be really good for you and work so well that you won't sweat! Haha well let's just say I may be a little crazy and I went out and bought some this week. It is basically a salt stick you rub in your armpit.. Haha so we will see how well it works! Haha

On Saturday we just biked all day! It was really hot and miserable!  But we survived! We had this   sweet old couple sign up to feed us dinner. They don't speak English very well but they had signed up to feed us dinner at 5. Well we called around 1 to make sure they were still ok to feed us when they said something about having to leave by 2 and our food was ready and could we come get it. We didn't have the heart to ask them if they could bring it to us on their way out so we biked for about 2 miles to pick up the food and we put it in a bag on our handle bars and biked all the way home.. That was one long bike trip. 4 miles for food.. Luckily it was really good food!

I think that is all of my stories for the week! I had a pretty lame week I guess because most of my stories were about food.. Haha.

I can't remember if I told you that we made a piñata last p-day. Well we started making one so that is what we are doing today is finishing out piñata! We really need to find things to do in p-days to entertain ourselves! Haha Amanda, I did get your package this week! Thank you! The tests were great! And I do have lights for my bike already but I will just save the ones you sent me until I need new ones or I get a new bike! Which may be really soon! I don't remember if I told ya'll but my bike was one I got for free and the front brakes broke off of the handle bar so I really only have back brakes on my bike and they don't work the greatest so eventually I will be needing a new bike! It's always an adventure trying to stop! I think my shoes work better for brakes then the actual brakes do! Haha but thanks again for the package!

I hope ya'll have a wonderful week! I can't wait to hear from ya'll again next week!

Love ya'll and miss ya'll tons and tons!
Love,
Sister Webb

Sardines & Pinata pictures - July 27, 2015

Here are the pictures I took this week!

I had to take a picture of the caca sardines i ate to show you how gross they really were. I had one that was soaked in water and one that was soaked in olive oil.. The oil was even worse because it was all slimy! Haha but I ate them! I am sorry I didn't get a video of me eating them. I will have to see if I get get a copy of it.
Here is a picture of the piñata we made on p-day with the other sisters in our area.

Week of Miracles! - July 20, 2015

Family!

I hope ya'll had a wonderful week! I had such an amazing week! It was full of so many miracles! Which is great! So I guess I will just start by telling all of my awesome stories!

On Tuesday we had an awesome zone meeting where they talked about bearing pure testimonies. They also talked about exact obedience and how it will bring many blessings. So I have been trying to be exactly obedient this week and I guess it payed off! Later that night we had ward correlation. It was the best! The elders brought brownies and oh my, I could have eaten the whole plate myself! Haha!  We have a new elder in our ward now. His name is Elder Walker. He is so stinkin' funny! He kept doing hand gestures with everything his companion was saying and I could not stop laughing! I am pretty sure I almost got kicked out of ward correlation because me and Sister Sorensen could not keep it together.. Haha

It must have just been a day of giggles because later that night when we were having our companion prayer for nightly planning I asked if it was my turn and just started to pray. We get pretty into taking turns because we don't want the other person to steal all of our blessings. Haha!  Well I start, "Dear Heavenly Father..." And all the sudden I hear "No, it's not, it is my turn! Stop!!" Haha we both burst out laughing and laughed for like 10 minutes over it. We must have been super tired that night because seriously it was not that funny! Haha

Sister Sorensen and I have been really into reading random scriptures to people and having them think of a question they want answered from Heavenly Father. It is so amazing how the scriptures we read always related to something that was going on in the persons life! We read 2 different people random scriptures from 2 different Book of Mormons and we managed to open to the same scripture for both of them! It was crazy and they both were going through a similar trial in their life and the scripture was perfect for it! Wow! The Book of Mormon is so powerful!!

Ok here is my favorite miracle of the week!! Ah, I just get so excited thinking about it! So we taught our investigator Bill Bell this week and it was such an amazing lesson! So let me tell you about Bill real fast. So we have been meeting with him for a few weeks now. The sisters had previously dropped him and one day we were going through our list of dropped investigators and I just got this prompting that we should go and visit him. So we did. Bill has been so lonely because his wife died not too long ago and he has just had such a hard time ever since. So the first time we met with him he told us that he really enjoyed our visit but that he would never join our church. He told us that we could come back again though because he really enjoyed the company. We left him with a Book of Mormon to read. By the next week we had another prompting we should go visit Bill, so we did. We got there and he had told us how he had done about 5 hours of research on the internet about the Book of Mormon and he found it very interesting and he had decided that he was going to read the entire book. But only for history purposes not for spiritual knowledge and he definitely was not going to join the church. The next lesson we had with him he told us how he had a desire to go to church but when we invited him he said he wasn't ready for that he just wanted to go and see how things were done at our church. So finally we come on Wednesday and we taught him about the gospel of Jesus Christ. It was such a good lesson! He stopped us about half way through the lesson and asked us why we keep coming to visit him because he is never going to join our church. We explained that we pray everyday to know where we need to go and who we need to see and the Lord had told us that we need to keep coming to visit him. And that every time we had come to visit him it was because we had been directed there by Heavenly Father.  We really have no clue why we keep visiting Bill besides we keep getting prompted to go visit. We then asked Bill if he would come to church with us. He said he wasn't sure he was ready for that yet. We then had Bill think of a question he wanted Heavenly Father to answer for him. We then explained how the scriptures are the best way to find the answers. So we opened up to a random chapter and started reading the first verse that we saw. It just so happened that we opened up to 2 Nephi chapter 31. Which ya'll know talks about baptism!! After we read the scripture we just sat in silence for a few minutes and asked Bill if that answered his question. He told us that he had asked how he could be a better example for his children and grandchildren in his life! It was amazing! We then asked him again, "Bill, will you come to church with us this Sunday?" We sat silent for about 2 minutes when all the sudden Bill said "what time?" We told him 9 o'clock. All he said was "I'll be there!" I seriously wanted to cry! We asked Bill how he was feeling and he said he couldn't describe it. We explained that he had felt the spirit! It was such an exciting lesson! I am so happy to report that Bill came to church yesterday!!!! Yay!  He loved it! It has been such a miracle and blessing seeing the changes in Bill since we started meeting with him! He is totally getting baptized soon!!

On Thursday we were able to meet with Anjeza. Aelidon was home but didn't want to meet with us so he let us teach his daughter. We taught her about the plan of salvation. Which was kinda tough because of the language barrier but it went perfect! She got so excited when we explained to her that we will be able to live with our families forever. She got super excited and said in her broken English, "wait, you mean I will get to see my grandma again?" She just started to smile and get so excited that we had taught her this! It was seriously the cutest thing ever!

We had lunch with a lady in our ward named Sister Beevers. She is the best. She sells Mary Kay and oh boy, she hooked me up big time!! I am pretty sure she gave me like 80 dollars worth of free stuff and told me she would get me more the next time I stop by! It was awesome!!!

So this weekend we only had our bikes. It is still just as miserable as day one.. Haha I still hate it. The humidity was at 100% this weekend so it was hot and humid. Which made us sweat more than usual and we just smelt so bad.. Haha you know you stink when you can smell yourself! Haha I don't know how people want to talk to us with out gagging but they do! Haha I tried to cover up my smell with body spray.. Haha that was a bad idea! It didn't work and then I smelt like body odor mixed with my spray and then I decided to try febreeze.. Haha lets just say by the end of the night the smell radiating off of me had much to be desired! Haha

On Friday night we decided that we were going to walk so we went to see our investigator LeAnne and she let us in and we had a great visit with her. She always gives us stuff when we go over. So this time she gave us some really nice sunscreen and she sells shirts so she gave us shirts. Earlier in the week her boy friend had given us hot sauce. Haha it's the best!  I am all about free things!

So yesterday we had a day full of miracles as well. We had set the goal to have 2 lessons this week with a member of the ward present. By Sunday we were still at zero. Well we decided to pray and we both had the faith we could accomplish our goals so after we prayed we just started calling members to come to lessons with us. We didn't even have any set lessons yesterday. But we got 2 members to commit to driving us to our lessons and joining us. After we got the members to commit to come with us we decided that we needed to pray so that we would know who we needed to see. We decided that we would visit Heidi and well the other person we didn't know who to visit. So we go out with Sister Wink and we try Heidi. She is not home.. Of course, we have not been able to get a hold of her for the past 2 weeks.. It's been tuff. She won't return our calls or texts so we don't know what is going on there.. So we decide to knock on her neighbors door who we had met the last time we visited Heidi. We knocked and no answer of course. But all of the sudden he started walking up the stairs and invited us in and we were able to teach him the whole restoration! It was such an amazing miracle!

After that we had dinner at a members home and she was going to take us to our next lesson. Of course we didn't have a next lesson so we are sitting in her living room frantically trying to decide who to visit while she was in changing her clothes. We decided quickly to visit our investigator Kim. She has been in and out of the hospital so we were not sure if she would even be home but it felt right to visit her. Well we got to Kim's house with Sister Spearrin and Kim's mom answers the door and invites us in. She tells us Kim is not home but she proceeded to visit with us. We talked a lot about trials and how we need to have faith through them and to always remember to turn to the Lord. We were able to teach Joyce, who is Kim's mom, the restoration! It was such a miracle because every time we had visited Kim her mom would tell us she had her church and was not interested. We committed her to read the restoration pamphlet and she told us how she wanted to read the Book of Mormon but the print was to small for her so we promised the next time we came back we would bring a large print copy for her! Wow! What a blessing! It is so great to know that when you have the faith and are obedient and follow the Lord's will and the spirit how you can see so many miracles! We were able to reach all of our goals but 2 this week. We don't have a baptism date set with any of our investigators and we never contacted a referral but other than that we reached all of our other goals!! It was such a blessing!

This past week it was one of my personal goals to study more about faith and to exercise my faith in the Lord more. Here are a few things from Preach My Gospel that I liked about faith: Faith leads to action. Including repentance, obedience, and dedicated service! With faith you accomplish what the Lord wants you to accomplish, You are able to do miracles according to the Lord's will. Your faith will be manifest through diligence and work. Through faith you receive answers to your prayers and personal inspiration to guide you in the Lord's works! This is so true! I know that if I had not exercised my faith this week we would not have been able to see all of the mighty miracles we did this week! I also know that we all need to exercise our faith and follow Jesus Christ example so that we can receive all the blessings Heavenly Father has in store for us! I testify these things to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

I hope you all have an amazing week! I love you so much! Have fun camping and be safe! I seriously thought ya'll were camping this past week so I have been praying every night for your safety.. Haha Guess I'll have to do it again this week! Oh mom, I did get your package this week! Thanks for the cookies and chocolate! I also got the card! Haha I loved it! I laughed for like ten minutes over it! So thank you! All of the letters from everyone and the packages really help! I love them!
Anyways have a wonderful week! I love you all and miss you so much!
Love,
Sister Webb

2 months down 16 to go!!! Bugs, Oh how I hate bugs! - July 13, 2015

Hello family!
This week has been a week full of nothing but bugs!! So I apologize now that all of my stories will mostly be about bugs. But I promise ya'll that you are going to get a good laugh about all of the stories. And if not, just laugh anyways because I have died laughing all week!

So, story number one. On Tuesday, we had some of the new sisters sleeping over at our apartment because transfers were on Wednesday. We had 3 of the new sisters staying with us. It was quite a party! We have a one bedroom apartment with one bathroom and we all had to find somewhere to sleep and in the morning we had to all be ready by 7:30... Let's just say I had to get up at 5:45 on Wednesday and I was not to happy about it.. I like my sleep! Haha

Anyways, we pick up the new sisters Tuesday night and Sister Sorensen is telling them all about our cockroach problem and how she hopes that they don't get cockroaches on them in the middle of the night. Haha they were all super worried about it. So being the kind person that I am I reassured them that we don't have a cockroach problem and that we hadn't seen any in weeks.. Haha I may have lied just a little... So the next morning I get up super early and get ready and I decided to make all of the new sisters a breakfast! Yes, you heard me right. I actually did something for someone else besides myself! Haha I made scrambled eggs, and pancakes and I cooked some ham! (Some member gave us this big spiral cut ham and I finally decided to put it to good use!) as I am cooking this delicious breakfast one of the sisters asks me what a cockroach looks like because she has this bug on her bag.. I walked over to it and sure enough she had a cockroach on her bag! Haha they all started screaming and I am just laughing my head off until I realized that I was going to have to be the one to kill it... But I managed to kill it! I then went back to cooking breakfast and I had started putting everything on plates and in bowls on the counter when Sister Sorensen walked passed and some how the plate of ham fell all over our dirty kitchen floor.. Luckily none of the new sisters saw so we just scooped it up off the floor and fed it to them! Hahaha

On Wednesday we were able to go and teach Aelidon's daughters. We taught them about prayer. We explained why it is important to pray and then showed them how to pray. They were both so excited to pray so we both let them pray for us before we left their apartment! Things are starting to look better teaching them! They are finally understanding us more and more! If only I knew Albanian, then this teaching stuff would be that much easier! Haha Aelidon is still not to interested in us teaching him but he allows us to come over and teach his girls and to talk with him. So we are slowly making progress!

So on Thursday it was Grandma Landry's birthday! You are probably wondering who this grandma is. She lives with the Matzke's who feed us every wed day night so we have become very close to her! We decided that we wanted to do something for her on her birthdays but we had nothing. So we made a card and we found some balloons in our apartment and then we made party hats.. Haha let me tell you how ridiculous these party hats were. We made them out of paper and then to tie them to our heads we used dental floss! Haha we were very creative! Well we drove over to the Matzke's and we decided we would give her her party hat and card and then sing to her! She ended up answering the door in her bathrobe so it was kinda awkward.. It reminded me of Christmas with Grandma Webb all over again! Haha so we sang super quick and then left! Haha but it was fun!

I cant remember what day of the week this next story happened on but I think it was Thursday or Friday morning.. Anyways I usually hate having to get up and go to the bathroom in the middle of the night because I am so scared of the dark. I usually just try to hold it til morning. I know.. I'm such a baby! Anyways I could not hold it any longer so I decide to go to the bathroom. Well in the morning when I got up I went to the bathroom to find a squished dead cockroach lying on the floor!!!! Ahhhhh!! I knew I shouldn't have gone to the bathroom! I stepped on a cockroach in the middle of the night! I was dying! Haha never again will I go to the bathroom in the middle of the night!! I don't even know how I managed to step on a cockroach with out noticing! Haha

On Friday we had weekly planning and one of the elders from the mission office had to come by to fix some of our lights. Well really he was just changing out lightbulbs for us.. Haha yes I am that pampered over here! Before I continue on with my story just know ya'll are going to shake your heads at this story! Haha Anyways he came in the afternoon and when I opened the door he says "Sisters it was so nice of you to leave your keys in the door for me..." Yes, we forgot to take our keys out of the door the night before... Haha I am getting blonder and blonder out here! I'm just glad that no one got me in the middle of the night! We live in a kinda scary apartment complex so I guess the Lord really does watch out for the missionaries and keep them safe! Haha I'm so glad for all of your prayers because apparently I need all the prayers I can get!

On Friday I officially fell off of my bike for the first time.. Haha I was riding down the side walk and my skirt kept coming up so I was trying to adjust it and let's just say some how I managed to ride off of the side walk and couldn't get back on and then I lost balance and I had to abandon bike and I am screaming and laughing.. Let's just say it was quite a scene! Haha lesson learned, don't try to adjust your skirt while riding.. Just let it come up and fix it at a stop! Haha I usually try to wear my sort of flowy dresses while biking so that they don't get caught on anything while I ride.. I'm not sure how smart this is because I am pretty sure all of Mandarin had gotten a good view up my skirt by now! Oh well, Haha thank goodness for biker shorts!

We were not able to have a lesson with Heidi this week. She said some things came up and she could not meet with us because she had been under so much stress with her husband not finding a job and a few other things.. Well we decided to make her some cookies and bring by and that was such a good idea! We were finally able to meet her husband Sokol. He is so nice and has such great faith and knows the Book of Mormon is true. He told us how Heidi just got her wisdom teeth out and that we could come back and see her in a few days. So keep praying for Heidi! We are hoping to get her baptized this month!!

I got a package on Saturday from Carolyn!! She sent me "Power of Everyday Missionaries"! I loved it! Thanks so much Carolyn! You are the best! And then she had her friend Sherri buy some chocolate and give to me! Awe, it made my whole week!!! So thank you! :)

So my next story takes place on Sunday and today. It is a two part story! So Sunday we come home from church and I have just been so stinkin' tired this past week. I can't seem to catch up on my sleep and I am always feeling so wore out and tired. I think it might be my blood pressure but I have no way of checking it so I'm hoping it is good..I've been starting to get my chest pains again like before when I kinda went crazy but I'm hoping it will all just go away real soon!  Anyways, I get home from church and decide I really need a nap. So instead of eating lunch I take a nap. Well when I wake up I swear I see something big and black on the floor but when I look again it's gone and nothing is there. Well I don't think much of it and I go out and start praying and have my personal study and I thought I saw something again. Well by now I just think I am so tired that I'm seeing things. We start having our companionship prayer and when I am finished saying it and open my eyes I find a lizard sitting right next to me!!!! Hahaha I'm sure you can imagine exactly what I did, I start screaming and jumping on the chair for protection! Haha Sister Sorensen and I decide that we have to catch it somehow but we are not entirely sure how to catch it. So, we get a mason jar and put some corn in it hoping that it would be lured into our jar by the corn.. Haha that did nothing! So we just pretend it is not in the apartment and go back to studying. Well later that night we get home and I am still so paranoid about this lizard! How am I going to sleep? What if it climbs into bed with me during the night? Who is going to save me when it does? Haha I was so stressed about the lizard I had to pray that it wouldn't climb into bed with me! I felt like I was 5! I'm glad to say that we managed to sleep the whole night without any lizards getting into my bed! Well we wake up and we can't find the lizard. So I am in the bathroom when all the sudden Sister Sorensen says there is a small cockroach by the sliding door and she needs me to catch it! Haha so I go out and catch it and we decide that we are just going to forget about the lizard because he is probably gone and we will exercise in our apartment today. When we exercise in our apartment I usually do it in my pajamas and don't bother to put shoes or a bra on because I don't usually break a sweat or do anything to need those things. Well I'm lying on the floor and about to do some sit ups when all of the sudden Sister Sorensen jumps up and starts screaming and can't manage to say anything. I instantly think "oh no, the lizard is back!" So as I jump up screaming (let me remind you that we exercise at 6:30 am... I'm sure all the neighbors love us!) I realize that nothing is on the floor.. By this point Sister Sorensen manages to say, " in your hair!!" I'm jumping, screaming, crying, and now flicking my hair to get it out when all the sudden a giant cockroach falls out of my hair and onto the carpet!! This was seriously the biggest cockroach I have ever seen! It was like the size of 2 quarters next to each other! By this point I am having the biggest panic attack ever and somehow I managed to get my church shoes on and I'm out the door! Haha we then decide that we are too scared to go in and face the cockroach so we will just exercise outside for the rest of the time. Bad idea! I am in my pajamas with bed head and no bra on and in church shoes! Haha I felt so dumb because everyone leaves for work at this time and they all drove past us as we are walking outside! Haha so back to the cockroach and lizard, we get done exercising and we go back inside. We check the apartment and the cockroach is gone and no lizard. So we start getting ready and we then have our personal study and then we start companionship study when we realize that the cockroach is lying dead on the floor of the kitchen. We assume that the lizard ate it! So we are all happy until the lizard comes out again! Haha we decide that we are not going to be able to focus until we catch or kill the lizard! I had become attached to this lizard, I named him Lizzy the Lizard! Haha so we get our large kitchen pots and decide we will catch Lizzy! I wish someone could have been recording us because we were throwing pots all over the room screaming and hoping some how we would catch the lizard! At one point I managed to catch it by it's tail under the front tire of sister sorensens bike! I thought I was doing so good until it made its tail fall if and took off running towards me! Hahaha well about an hour later we had destroyed our apartment, chairs were everywhere pots and bowls all over the floor and we still had not caught the lizard... We finally decide that we are wasting p-day on this stupid lizard and we need to start cleaning. So as we are cleaning Sister Sorensen manages to trap half of it under a pot on the carpet. We are both freaking out not knowing how to catch it all the way under the pot so we decide we have to find something to kill it with! I found some dish soap and we killed it with that! I felt so bad!! Poor little Lzzy the Lizard! After that we had a funeral for it as we flushed it down the toilet. We each said something nice about the lizard! Haha it made for a pretty exciting day!

Well that is basically all of my stories! Nothing has really happened this week.. I'm looking forward to hearing from ya'll! I'm sorry I only had bug stories for you this week. I hope as you read them that ya'll will get a good laugh just picturing me trying to kill bugs and lizards and having a cockroach in my hair! No one told me that I would have to deal with this many bugs on my mission! Haha

I honestly never realized how hard a mission would be until I actually got out here and started doing the work! People always told me it would be hard but you never really understand how hard until your doing it. I go through my phases every week of wanting to just come home because I know how much easier things would be. I could just start working and dating and life would be great! Every time I start to want to come home I pray to Heavenly Father for that help and strength to make it through this! Well this week I was praying and asking Heavenly Father if this is really for me because it is so hard and so hot and some days I'm just super miserable. I asked him to please give me an answer because I needed help! Well after I said my prayer Sister Sorensen says to me"let me read you your random scripture for the day." She randomly opens up to Alma 39:16 and it says "and now, my daughter Olivia, this was the ministry unto which ye were called, to declare these glad tidings unto this people, to prepare their minds; or rather that salvation might come unto them, that they may prepare the minds of their children to hear the word at the time of his coming." Wow! I was speechless! Heavenly Father truly does hear and answer our prayers and I know that when you need that comfort and answer in your life he really gives it to you! I have never had a stronger testimony of the power of prayer until my mission! I pray like 30 times a day. I love being able to just talk to my Heavenly Father and tell him all about my day and how I am feeling and ask questions and see guidance. I know that if you will do these things and do them with a sincere heart he really will answer your prayers because he loves you that much! Another thing that I always tell myself when things get hard is our mission motto.. "I love tuff things, I'm the first to do tuff things, I do tuff things first, I LOVE being a missionary!" It always seems to help me refocus and get back to work! I hope ya'll can learn to love tuff things and know that Heavenly Father gives us trials in our lives to help us grow and exercise faith in Him as well as Jesus Christ! And when you do those things and you make it through your trial you really do become so much closer to Him! I know the Lord will never give us any trial or struggle that we can't handle. And through the Lord we can handle anything!  I leave these things with you in the name of Jesus Christ amen.
I hope ya'll have a wonderful week camping and enjoying summer! I hope it doesn't rain on ya'll! It pours rain here every day! I love you all and pray for each and everyone of you every day!
Love,

Sister Webb :)

Week of Adventures! - July 6, 2015

Hey family!
What a week of adventures!!! Let me just tell you this week had an adventure every day and I am exhausted! The worst part is trying to catch up on all of the sleep! I think I take naps everyday trying to catch up and it never helps!

So, let me start on the adventures of the week. Last Monday we had the adventure on p-day to make snow in a can.. Haha that's right... We found some random can of fake snow and made it! It got all over our apartment and let's just say it was tricky to clean up! But we made a snow man!!!

Later that night we had the funniest thing happen. So, when we got in that night we ended up letting a moth in the apartment.. I hate those things! Anyways it started flying around while we were planning and it ended up flying straight at me and wanted to go right down my shirt! Haha I started screaming at the top of my lungs and my arms were flying everywhere. Haha it was quite the sight! I then decided I needed to find something to kill it so I grabbed the broom... Haha yes, I started swinging the broom at it and trying to chase it out of the apartment! I succeeded! We both were laughing so hard cause I looked so ridiculous!

On Tuesday our adventures got even better! So we were on our bikes and we were biking to our investigators house to teach a lesson. Well the rain storms hit so quickly here. Literally the skies will be sunny and clean and with in seconds the sky goes black and it starts pouring rain. Well this is exactly what happened to us. We had been biking for about 3 miles when all the sudden I just see the skies go black and a sheet of rain just starts racing towards us. Well it started pouring so hard that we couldn't even see.. So we decide that the church is about a 1/2 mile back so we attempted to bike back to the church.. The roads seriously started flooding and we were soaked and looked like a wet mess! Haha so here was the best part that made me laugh so hard because we just looked so pathetic and ridiculous. So, you know how in movies you see the cars drive past and hit the puddles of water and splash it up on people? Yeah that totally happened to us! Haha the streets were starting to fill up with water and every car that drove past would splash water all over us.. Hahaha I was dying laughing!! Just picture me trying to bike in a pouring rain thunderstorm and cars splashing water on us. Haha

Later that day we were able to have a lesson with Heidi! It was great! We taught her about the Sabbath day and invited her to come to church. She didn't make it this week so we will have to push her baptism date back to the 26th... So keep your fingers crossed that she will be baptized that day!

My next adventure that day was coming home from ward correlation. We didn't have a car and had walked to correlation so Brother Wink had us drive the Elder's car to our apartment and they just followed us there. While in their car I found a Cheetah Girls cd.. Haha I was laughing so hard. And the worst part was I couldn't tell anyone cause we were not suppose to be driving the Elder's car.

So this week I got hit on 2 different times while tracting... Haha one boy was Latino and when we were leaving he asked if he could give me a Latino goodbye.. Sadly I had to decline that.. Although a kiss did sound nice. The next boy asked for my name and then asked if I had Facebook.. Haha pretty sure he was going to try stalking me...

On Friday we went to dinner at my new favorite Mexican restaurant it was great! We always play this game with our straw wrappers that you have to think of some one as you tie it in a knot and pull and if your knot breaks it means they are thinking of you.. Well my straw wrapper knot finally broke! Yay! Some one was thinking of me! Haha! It was such a great day! I got my taco fix and earlier that day one of the members gave me a pack of Oreos!! Mm my! I was in heaven!

So, on Saturday I had the best 4th of July ever!! We started the morning off by going to the ward breakfast. We then went to dinner at the Matthew's home where a few families in the ward joined us. It was a lot of fun!

After dinner we were invited by the mission president to go down town and go tracting and watch the fire works. It was awesome!! There were about 15 companion ships that were able to go! We all met at the mission office and took vans downtown. This was the start of our adventure. So we walk up to the van and there was a cat that ran up under the hood of the car. The elders didn't believe us so we made them check and they couldn't see it. They slammed the hood down and started the van when all the sudden there was a giant popping noise that hit the hood and all the sudden cat hair started falling to the ground.. Hahaha we totally killed the cat!

We finally got to the landing down town and they had changed the rules that you must be 21 or older to enter... Sadly I was one of the only ones old enough to go in. So we drove to the other side of the river and started talking to people over there. We were able to pass out about 15 copies of the Book of Mormon and get a few return appointments from it! Success! They best part was we got to watch the fireworks!! Yay!! They were amazing! They put them on a tug boat in the water and shoot them off from there! They had two different sets of fireworks going off at the same time! It was gorgeous!! We didn't end up getting home that night until after midnight! I was so tired because the next morning was Sunday and we had to be up by six so we could walk to church by 7:30.. I am still trying to catch up on my sleep from that! Haha

Oh I almost forgot to tell you my most awkward moment on the mission so far! It happened on Saturday at the fireworks. So we were out tracting and talking to people and we came across this drunk man who told me that I was very beautiful and then leaned in and just kissed me!! Ahhhh I was dying! Hahaha I was laughing so hard!

Yesterday we were able to do some service at a dog park! The park was built on a land field so we mostly just dug up garbage! Haha it was fun!

We then got to do some service for our investigator Leanne. It was the weirdest thing ever. We went to visit her and her boyfriend Eric was unloading some boxes from a truck. So we helped him because Leanne wasn't home. To make a long story short their dogs got out and he had to return the truck so we offered to catch them for him well he gave us the code to the house and some how we ended up cleaning their kitchen for him as well. It was weird because no one was home.  He told us that we can stop by anytime we need and gave us the code for the lock on the door. People really trust us! Haha

That is about all I have been up to this week. Transfer calls were last night, I will be staying here in Mandarin with Sister Sorensen!

Today was our p-day we went to the zoo with one of the inactive ladies we have been working with in our ward! It was such a blast!!! I finally saw my first alligator!! Yay!!

Tonight we are having 3 of the new sisters sleep at our house so that's exciting! I'm finally not the new missionary!

I thought I would end today's letter by sharing with you something I read in my personal studies. I was studying about the Book of Mormon this week. I was reading in the June 1988 Ensign: The Power of the Book of Mormon, given by President Gordon B. Hinckley.
President Hinckley talks about how Parley P. Pratt came to know of the Book of Mormon and its truthfulness. He talks about how a Baptist deacon told him "of a book, A STRANGE BOOK, A VERY STRANGE BOOK!" The deacon told him how it was originally written on plates of gold or brass, by tribes of Israel. The plates had been discovered and translated by a young man near Palmyra, New York.
The next day Parley P. Pratt went to the deacons home where he said this about the Book of Mormon. "My eyes beheld the 'Book of Mormon' -that book of books..... Which was the principle means, in the hands of God, of directing the entire course of my life."
He talks about how he could not put the book down once he began to read it. He said how eating became a burden and how he preferred reading to sleep. This brought me to think about my own relationship and desire to read the Book of Mormon. I had a question come to my head as I read this.
Have I made the Book of Mormon part of my life? Not just a study tool to learn and gain knowledge of gospel principles or just reading the book just to read it. Do I truly find answers to my questions and  am I able to apply the teachings to my life and feel the spirit every time I read it?
Parley P. Pratt said this about reading the Book of Mormon. "As I read, the spirit of the Lord was upon me, and I knew and comprehended that the book was true, as plainly and manifestly as a man comprehends and knows he exists."
I then thought of this question as I read. Am I having spiritual grounding experiences every time I read the Book of Mormon? As I read am I able to feel the spirit bear witness of the truthfulness of this book?
I then started to think about what is truth? D&C 93:24 said this about truth:
"truth is knowledge of things as they are, as they were and as they are to come."
So, I then asked myself what is it about the Book of Mormon that makes it true? I started thinking about how the things in the Book of Mormon are the same things Jesus Christ taught. They are the same things that were taught many years ago, as well as in times today. And I know they will be the same things being taught in the future. Nothing has changed from the time of Christ establishing his gospel and teaching it to people to the present day. They are all the same principles. That is truth!
President Hinkley said this about inviting others to read the Book of Mormon: "Each time we encourage others to read the Book of Mormon, we do them a favor. If they read it prayerfully and with a sincere desire to know the truth, they will know by the power of the Holy Ghost that the book is true." He explains from that knowledge of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, everything else will fall into place. Then the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ will make sense and will be made know unto them.
I loved this! We can't convince someone that the Book of Mormon is true. They must read it on their own having that desire to know, having a sincere heart and praying while reading in order to find the truth for themselves. I was reading in Preach My Gospel about using the Book of Mormon to respond to objections. I found this quote in it that I loved! “Our main task is to declare the gospel and do it effectively. We are not obligated to answer every objection. Every man eventually is backed up to the wall of faith, and there he must make his stand”
Truth comes individually, over time and through revelation.
If we can bear testimony of the Book of Mormon and why it has blessed and changed our life, testifying we know this because we have read and prayed about it. Then, we have accomplished our purpose.
President Hinkley promised us something at the end of his talk that stuck out to me and I loved. He said, "Brothers and Sisters, without reservation I promise you that if you will prayerfully read the Book of Mormon, regardless of how many times you previously have read it, there will come unto your hearts an added measure of the spirit of the Lord. There will come a strengthened resolution to walk in obedience to his commandments, and there will come a stronger testimony of the living reality of the son of God."
I know this to be true! I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that as you read it with a sincere heart and pray about it I know you will receive an answer that it is true! I remember before my mission reading the scriptures only occasionally and usually when I really needed guidance in my life and even then I never read it with real intent and asking a question as I searched the pages for my answer. As I have truly read the Book of Mormon using President Hinkley's promise while I have been on my mission I truly have come to love the Book of Mormon! I challenge each one of you to read the Book of Mormon and take Pesident Hinkley up on that promise because I know it is true and I know you will find a stronger love for the Book of Mormon just like I did! :)
I love you all and hope you have a wonderful week! I will email again on Monday!
Love Sister Webb :)

What a week of excitement!!! - June 27, 2015

Family!
What a week... I hope all is going well at home. I am kinda jealous that I won't be able to go camping this week with ya'll... Crazy right? Me sad that I can't go camping.. Haha. Well let me tell you all about my week.

So, to start let me begin by telling ya'll about my wonderful biking adventures! Haha last week I had mentioned that I needed to get my bike fixed. Well we called Brother Wink who is the ward mission leader and asked him where a bike shop would be so that we could take my bike in. We explained to him that there was something wrong with my brakes but I was not sure. He told us not to worry he would come by after work on Monday and fix it for me. He seriously is the nicest guy you will ever meet. Well he gets to our apartment on Monday and i show him my bike and he looks at it and says, "you didn't tell me that the entire brake had broken off the handlebar... I don't think I can fix this.." Haha oops! I had no clue what was wrong with it! Haha so he tightened up the back brake and I have been riding with only back brake all week.. What an adventure that has been trying to stop in the pouring rain! Haha I am still really shaky when I ride my bike so I almost run into fences all the time or fall in the ditches.. Haha it basically rained all three days that we had our bikes and not only did it rain but it poured rain!! It was a huge adventure trying to ride in it! Not to mention in a skirt or dress.. Thank goodness for biker shorts! Although I may need some better skirts to bike in.. They were a little to straight and made it quite difficult to get on and off of my bike. We just looked awful all the time because we are always dripping wet! Haha my butt has never been so sore and I've never been so hot and tired in my life! One of the members told me he was going to buy me a little hand fan so I could cool off! Haha   Ok enough about my biking adventures.. I hate biking but it's getting better everyday and we are seeing so many miracles from not having a car.

So now on to the bugs... Haha lets just say, I hate bugs!!! This week we have caught about 3 cockroaches in our apartment, the first one we just stuck a glass vase over the top of it because I didn't know how to kill it and then the second one we sprayed with all purpose cleaner and the third one was on our blinds and it disappeared and is just wandering in our apartment some where!!! So the one that was sitting under the vase all week was my responsibility to kill... I was hoping it would just die over the week.  I even smashed one of its legs off hoping that would help.. Nope, it was still very alive this morning when I checked. So I got my all purpose cleaner out that had bleach in it and I lifted up the vase and started screaming and spraying cleaner like a mad women! Haha Sister Sorensen recorded the whole thing so I will send you video of that! Haha

My next bug story, ok so we were cleaning out a closet on our covered porch and we saw this giant bug under something... We were to scared to do anything else so when Brother Wink came by on Monday to fix my bike we begged him to go and kill the bug for us or at least look to see if it was a bug! He went in and he came back out seconds later and said "if that's a bug I am scared to kill it because that thing is huge and is going to get stuff everywhere!" Haha he made us go get his phone so he could get a picture of how big it was before he killed it. Well he came out a few minutes later laughing and asked if we wanted to see it.. He pulled out a giant plastic ant from his pocket! Haha yes, the bug we were so scared of was a plastic ant! Hahaha. I also took a picture of that so ya'll could see it!

So on Tuesday we started our car share with other sisters. And on Tuesday they had the car and there was something wrong with it so they had to take it to the shop so to make a long story short they left their apartment keys on the key ring at the car shop so they got locked out of their apartment. We got to have s giant sleep over at our apartment that night! It was fun! We blew up our extra air mattresses. It was so great!

We are still teaching Heidi and had a lesson with her on Tuesday! It went great! We talked about the Sabbath day and keeping it holy. We invited her to church this week and she committed to come with us! I feel so bad though, yesterday was church and we didn't see her there and when we got home later that afternoon she text us and said that she was late to church and could only stay for the first meeting and she hoped she made it to the right church cause she got lost... Haha so I hope she made it to the right church as well! She still has her baptism date set for July 12 so keep praying that she will be ready in time! We are so excited for her!

Erica is our other investigator with a baptismal date. It was set for the 5th of July but she has not been to church yet so we are going to have to push it back a little bit..

We had sad news yesterday when we got a text from our favorite investigator Paula and she dropped us... :( she said that she just had some different views on things and didn't know if this church was for her. We invited her to come to lunch with us this week so we can talk everything out. We think it had a lot to do with the Supreme Court passing gay marriage and the churches views on that.. But we will see.

We taught our other investigator Bill Bell this week. We read with him in the Book of Mormon and started talking about he gospel of Jesus Christ. He said that he wanted to come to our church some time and check it out! It was amazing!!  We are never to pushy with Bill because he tells us every time that he only wants to learn and will never get baptized but each lesson he changes more and more and is willing to do more and more! It has been great!

We are still teaching Aleidon and his family. My Albanian is still coming along and they are starting to be more accepting to our visits and lessons! Yay!!!

So on Wednesday night we had dinner at the Matzke's home because we eat their every Wednesday night. Before we went to dinner we were able to do our golden hour of tracting in their neighborhood and we have been praying for new investigators. Well we met a guy named Travis and we were able to share the restoration with him and he expressed how him and his wife have been looking for a church to attend with their children that has a good youth program and is not all about the money.. Sadly we told him we knew of no church like that.. I'm just kidding! We were so excited to tell him all about our church and he was so excited! He invited us back for another lesson and is planning to come to church some time! :)

We had a great lesson with Brother Thompson in our ward. He is one of the less actives we have been working with. We read in Alma chapter 36 with him and talked about how we all need to have a true conversion to the gospel whether we are converts to the church or not!  We also talked about the atonement and how wonderful it is and how it is such a blessing in our lives. We talked about guardian angels and this was my favorite part! As we were talking I just keep thinking of all of the angels I have in my life helping me each and everyday and I know that Grandpa Evensen, Grandma Webb and Angie are all my guardian angels looking out for me and helping me out on the very tough days! It was such a great lesson! Oh and I learned that his brother is about the same age as dad and hey served in the same mission! Dad do you happen to remember an elder named Troy Thompson!? :)

We had another miracle happen this week when we went to drop another one of our investigators.. The Lord really know what he is doing when he inspires you to go and visit someone. So we have this investigator named LeAnne and we met her the first few days I was here and helped her with some service by helping her make a bunch of shirts. Well anyways we had not been able to contact her or meet with her since. Well on Wednesday night we got this impression that we needed to go and to visit her and if she didn't seem interested we planned to just drop her. Well we knocked and a man answered the door and invited us in. He was so nice. It was her boyfriend. He offered us dinner and we explained we just ate. He gave us some water and then he gave us each this giant bowl of watermelon and then he made us toast with bananas on it and then he gave us crackers and then he gave us orange juice! Haha he told us he just wanted to make sure we were getting fed! I have never been so full in my life! We seriously had just come from dinner at the Matzke home like 10 minutes earlier. Anyways we had the best lesson with them and we talked about how we were on bikes so then Eric went to the back room and came back with these metal water bottles for us! They are seriously the sweetest people ever!

Ok my final story about someone we taught this week. So there is this man in our apartment complex and we saw him like 2 weeks ago out walking his dog and parrot.. Yes, you heard me right... He walks his parrot! Anyways I made Sister Sorensen pull the car over cause I wanted to talk to this crazy looking man! So we stop, pull the car over and we start chasing the man down the side walk.. Now who looked crazy? Haha well we had a little lesson with him and he invited us to come back and teach him more. Well we forgot to get the apartment number.. Haha so we know what building it was or at least we thought we did so last week we started knocking random doors looking for him.. We had no success. Well this week we were coming home from district meeting and we saw him.. We both jumped out of the car and chased him down again. We were able to teach him another lesson and this time he offered to let us hold his parrot! It was so cool! He really is a true hill billy. He is missing half of his teeth and he walks his parrot and dog for fun.. Haha anyways, I held a parrot this week! It was really exciting! And we were able to get his apartment number this time so we can go back and teach him!

We had trade offs this week. It was great! I got to go to Hendricks and spend the night with one of the sister training leaders! It was such a great experience! The people there are so different from the people here in Mandarin but I loved it! We saw some miracles and we were able to teach lots of lessons! It was great!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to go up to St. Vincent's hospital where one of our sisters in the ward is. She is really sick and has been in the ICU. She had an oxygen mask so we were not able to really talk to her so we decided to sing her songs.. We decided to sing "There is Sunshine in My Soul Today". She instantly started crying and then wrote on a paper explaining that when she has been in so much pain though all of this that was the song she would sing in her head to help her get though it and we just sang it to her out of the blue! It was such a neat experience to see how we touched her life and made her day!

On Saturday we got to go to a training meeting and I was able to see Sister Rigby! She was my MTC companion, if you can't remember. It was so great to see how she is doing! And then we went to a fireside on Sunday night and she was there as well! It was great! I love her so much! I hope we will be in the same area sometime soon! Or if we get lucky we will get to be companions again!!
Ok one last thing! I have officially been approved to drive a mission vehicle!!! Yay!! Watch out Florida because I am going to be driving real soon!!!! Haha

Well I think that is all of my fun adventures for the week! I am so glad to hear that everything is going well at home! I love you all and keep each and everyone of you in my prayers! I hope that my prayers are being answered and you guys are seeing many blessings in your lives!

I am so grateful for this gospel and what happiness it brings to my life! I am really starting to love my mission more and more! I know that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church here upon the earth today. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet called by Heavenly Father to restore it back to the earth. I know that the priesthood was restored back to the earth and what a blessing it has been in my life. I never realized how great it was to be surrounded by worthy men who hold the priesthood until now! It has been so great every time I have needed a blessing to know I am surrounded by men who can give me one. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the prophet on the earth day and that he truly does lead and guide us. And if we listen to his counsel we will come so much closer to our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ! I have a testimony of the atonement and what a blessing it is in my life. I am so grateful for my brother Jesus Christ who so willingly took upon himself the sins of the world and that he suffered bled and died so that I will be able to repent every time I make a mistake and that there is a way that I can return to live with my Heavenly Father again! I am so grateful for the knowledge to know that families are forever and that I will be able to be with mine for eternity! I have a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon and what a blessing it is in our lives if we will just take the time to read it! I never read the Book of Mormon much before my mission, in fact, most of you know, that I had no clue the stories that were even in it. As I have been reading every day on my mission I am learning so much and gaining such a strong testimony of it! I truly know that when nothing else will be able to change people's hearts the Book of Mormon will! I love this gospel and I am so grateful for my chance to serve my Heavenly Father for the next 17 months! I am growing so much and I love just watching the gospel change people's lives! I challenge all of you to grow a little closer to your Heavenly Father this week. Whether it be reading the scriptures, serving someone, going to church and learning something new, or even just kneeling down and having a heartfelt prayer and conversation with him. I know that if you will do this you will feel of the love that he has for you and you will have that desire and hunger for more! I leave these things with you in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

I hope ya'll have a wonderful week! I love ya'll so very much and miss you guys like crazy! I forgot to mention I got the package this week and I loved it so so so so much!! I ate all of the Oreos within the first like 24 hours.. Haha I wasn't sure if I could drink 40 dollars worth of milk, Mom.. So I bought some hair dye instead! Haha I already wore one of the scarves and sweat to death in it. Haha I loved the exercise shorts they work perfect and keep me so much cooler! There are a few more things I am requesting for the next package.. Anything with chocolate in it.. I have been craving chocolate all week and I am too poor to buy any.. Haha I also want Power of Everyday Missionaries. It is a book you can get a Deseret Book! Please send it to me! Also if you ever want to send the flavor packets for water bottles.. they are nice so I don't have to taste the nasty Florida water.. Haha also thanks for the letter Mom. Both the stories you shared really helped me! I love the pioneer story you shared it is one of my favorites and it just reminded me that I can do this. And that I can do tough things no matter how hard things get I know if sweet little Bodile Mortenson could survive crossing the plains and dying while trying to serve everyone than I can totally survive a simple mission no matter how toughI think it is.

Anyways, I love you all. Transfers are next week so my p-day will be on Tuesday. So when I don't email Monday don't be alarmed!
Love,
Sister Webb :)
